Incident at Private Clinic in Pala
Kottayam – A retired government doctor was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly attempting to sexually assault a 23-year-old woman patient at his private clinic in Murikkumbuzha, Pala, police said. The incident occurred on Monday when the victim had gone to seek treatment for an ailment.
Accusation of Misconduct During Examination
According to the complaint, the doctor misbehaved with the patient under the pretext of treatment and attempted to sexually assault her during a medical examination. Media reports state that the accused was also an active leader of the government doctors’ association.
Police Action
A team from Pala Police Station arrested the accused following the woman’s complaint. Authorities confirmed that an FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway.
Similar Past Incident
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported a similar case in February this year, where a 57-year-old doctor in north Kerala was accused of misbehaving with a teenage girl during her visit to his private clinic. In that case, the victim’s family lodged a formal complaint with the police.
