Mumbai: In a big relief to government doctors in Maharashtra, the Bombay High Court in an ad-interim order stayed parts of an August 2012 Maharashtra Government resolution which barred government doctors from private practice. The said government resolution bars government doctors to do private proactive practice and compulsory accept non-practicing allowance (NPA).Any violation on the part of government doctors would attract disciplinary action against them.

The petition was filed by Dr A S Rathod, a medical officer in a sub-district hospital in Bhor taluka of Pune district challenging the government resolution which prohibits government doctors from performing private practice in their non-duty hours.
