Rajasthan Medical Council: Directs hospitals to verify qualifications and credentials of employed doctors

Jaipur: Dr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Registrar of Rajasthan Medical Council has issued a notice stating that it has been found that numerous hospitals, nursing homes and clinical establishment in the state are employing doctors who either lack appropriate qualification or are qualified in another specialty. Dr Sharma added that such recruitments are illegal and constitute punishable offence. The council has warned hospital and clinical establishment to ensure that qualified doctors provide treatment to patient. The council has also directed the hospitals and clinical establishments to verify the qualifications and credential of doctors employed with them as council has been receiving complaints in this regard.

The council has said that the allopath doctors should be allowed in hospitals and clinical establishments which offer allopathic treatment to patients and Ayurveda & Unani doctors should not be employed by hospitals and clinical establishments for treating patients in allopathic medicine. The council said that these Ayurveda & Unani doctors providing allopathic treatment will also be held accountable for any inadequacy in treatment provided to the patient. The council has further appealed to hospitals and clinical establishments to ensure they admit patient only if they have necessary facilities to treat the patient.
