Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Tuesday inaugurated a 50-bed sub-divisional hospital along with a 30-bedded maternal and child health (MCH) block in Dhuri, marking a significant step toward strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the region.
Modern Healthcare Facilities to Benefit 70 Villages
Addressing the gathering, Mann said the new hospital complex will serve not only Dhuri city but also nearly 70 surrounding villages, bringing quality healthcare services closer to thousands of residents.
He emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building an accessible, patient-centric healthcare system by improving infrastructure, expanding services, and ensuring availability of skilled medical professionals.
₹21.65 Crore Project with Advanced Infrastructure
Constructed at a cost of ₹21.65 crore, the hospital spans around 73,000 square feet and is equipped with modern healthcare facilities. The Chief Minister described the project as a major boost to secondary-level healthcare services in the region.
Comprehensive Medical Services Under One Roof
The 50-bed hospital is designed to offer outpatient and inpatient care, emergency services, diagnostics, and specialist consultations.
The facility includes:
- 13 OPD rooms
- Fully equipped emergency block
- Two registration counters
- Seven operation theatres for major and minor surgeries
It also houses advanced diagnostic services such as ECG, ultrasound, X-ray, and three laboratories for accurate and timely testing.
Special Focus on Maternal and Child Healthcare
The 30-bed MCH block aims to enhance maternal, neonatal, and child healthcare services. It will provide both normal and cesarean delivery services under the supervision of qualified gynaecologists, ensuring improved care for mothers and newborns.
Specialist Services Including Surgeries and ENT Care
Mann highlighted that the hospital will offer advanced medical procedures, including surgical interventions and knee replacement services. Specialist doctors, particularly in ear, nose, and throat (ENT) care, will also be available.
Strengthening Healthcare Workforce in Punjab
The Chief Minister noted that under the state government, over 1,500 doctors have been recruited, including 600+ specialists and 900+ general physicians, along with more than 800 doctors deployed in Aam Aadmi Clinics.
Major Boost for Regional Healthcare Delivery
The new hospital is expected to directly benefit over 58,000 residents in Dhuri, along with thousands from nearby areas, significantly improving access to quality healthcare and reducing dependence on distant medical facilities.
