Private hospital booked for administering expired meds in Bengaluru

Bengaluru : An FIR was registered against Sanjeevini Hospital doctor and staff after a three-year-old girl was administered expired medicine by the hospital staff. According to the FIR, staff at Sanjeevini Hospital administered expired medicine named multiple electrolytes and dextrose. A nurse at the hospital administered a medicine which had expired two months ago to the girl. The girl’s parents staged a protest in front of the hospital after she allegedly suffered rashes in her mouth because of the side effects of expired medicine. Meanwhile, the hospital has reportedly suspended a nurse and a pharmacist and the same has been communicated to the police. A case of adulteration of drugs (IPC 274), sale of adulterated drugs (IPC 275), and causing hurt by the act of endangering the life of others (IPC 337) has been registered against the hospital.
