Minister Nishant Kumar Launches Radiology Department at PMCH Tower-3, Orders Improved Healthcare Services

Patna: Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar on Tuesday inaugurated the Radiology Department at the newly constructed Tower-3 of Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and conducted a comprehensive review of healthcare facilities, patient services, and ongoing infrastructure development at the state’s premier government medical institution.

Senior officials from the Health Department and PMCH administration attended the inauguration ceremony. During the visit, the minister inspected multiple hospital departments and assessed the functioning of newly installed medical equipment and diagnostic facilities.

Focus on Patient Care and Medical Infrastructure

The Health Minister reviewed patient care services, radiology equipment operations, hospital infrastructure, availability of medical facilities, and the progress of ongoing development projects. He directed hospital authorities to immediately report any deficiencies or operational challenges affecting patient care.

Emphasising the government’s commitment to healthcare delivery, Nishant Kumar stated that providing quality treatment and improved medical facilities to patients remains a top priority. He also warned that negligence at any level of the healthcare system would not be tolerated.

PMCH Redevelopment Project Under Review

During the inspection, the minister also reviewed the extensive redevelopment and modernisation work underway at PMCH. He instructed officials to ensure that all pending projects are completed within the prescribed timelines while maintaining quality standards.

PMCH is currently undergoing a major infrastructure expansion project that will increase its capacity to more than 5,500 beds, significantly enhancing healthcare services and patient accommodation in Bihar.

Minister Responds to Patient Complaints

Before leaving the hospital premises, Nishant Kumar interacted directly with patients and their attendants to understand their concerns and experiences. During the interaction, an individual reportedly raised concerns regarding nursing services.

Taking immediate cognisance of the complaint, the minister sought an explanation from the concerned nursing staff and directed officials to address the issue promptly.

Ongoing Efforts to Improve Healthcare Services

Earlier, after assuming charge of the Health Department, Nishant Kumar had acknowledged receiving multiple complaints regarding the conditions and services at PMCH. Describing the complaints as serious, he had announced corrective measures, including surprise inspections and regular monitoring mechanisms.

The minister’s latest visit is being viewed as part of the Bihar government’s broader initiative to strengthen accountability, improve hospital management, and enhance patient care standards at one of the state’s largest government healthcare institutions.
