Technical Fault Leads to Tragic Accident at Private Hospital
Khammam: A 55-year-old woman, Sathu Sarojini, lost her life, and two ward boys sustained injuries after a hospital lift malfunctioned and crashed from the third floor to the ground floor at Prasuna Orthopaedic and Super Specialty Hospital in Khammam city on Friday.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
- Sarojini had been admitted three days ago for heart surgery.
- After the procedure, two ward boys were transporting her on a stretcher in the hospital lift to the ICU on the third floor.
- Due to a technical fault, the lift moved before the doors could close, causing the stretcher to get stuck.
- The lift then rose to the third floor before crashing to the ground, leading to Sarojini’s death on the spot due to severe bleeding.
Allegations of Negligence
Family members, devastated by the unexpected loss, alleged that the hospital lift had been malfunctioning for several days. They accused the hospital management of negligence, stating that the accident could have been prevented if necessary repairs had been carried out.
