Over 10 Lakh Seniors Enroll for Ayushman Vay Vandana Card in Three Weeks

Free Healthcare Benefits Under AB PM-JAY for Senior Citizens Above 70

New Delhi: More than 10 lakh senior citizens aged 70 and above have registered for the newly launched Ayushman Vay Vandana Card, granting them free healthcare benefits under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY). The initiative, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 29, 2024, has achieved this milestone within just three weeks, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Significant Participation by Women

Out of the total enrolments, around 4 lakh senior women have applied for the card. Additionally, over 4,800 seniors, including 1,400 women, have already received treatments worth over Rs 9 crore under the scheme.

Comprehensive Healthcare Coverage

The Ayushman Vay Vandana Card covers a variety of treatments such as:

  • Coronary angioplasty
  • Hip fractures and replacement surgeries
  • Gallbladder removal
  • Cataract surgery
  • Prostate resection
  • Stroke treatment

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the card:

  1. Applicants must be permanent residents of India.
  2. Applicants must be 70 years or older.
