OPD consultation within 15 days of first consultation : No charges in West Bengal

Kolkata : The West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission ordered that all private hospitals have to allow patients 15 days to undergo the investigations advised by the doctor and report back with the results for free. The current window for a free follow-up with test reports is a week at most private hospitals.

“It has come to the notice of the commission that OPD patients in private clinical establishments (CE) get seven days to show their reports to the doctor. If they fail to report during this period, they need to pay full consultation fee for the second time. Henceforth, no private CEs can take extra consultation charge upto 15 days from the date of primary consultation ” said an order passed by the commission on Thursday.
