Kathmandu: The Nepal Medical Council (NMC) has issued a notice seeking clarifications from two senior doctors in the Department of Psychiatry at Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences (Dhulikhel Hospital) after a first-year MD student attempted suicide on February 16.
Who Is Under Investigation?

🔹 Dr. Ajay Risal
🔹 Dr. Deepak Kunwar
Both doctors, who head the Psychiatry Department, are being questioned for alleged abuse and undue pressure on the student.
What Led to This Action?
- The NMC had earlier recorded statements from the accused doctors and the survivor.
- However, further clarification is required to determine their role in the incident.
- Four doctors from the department were previously suspended for a week as part of the investigation.
Hospital’s Response
