New Delhi: The National Medical Council (NMC) has allowed the orthopedic surgeon and neuro surgeon to perform spine surgeries. The issue of spine surgery has cropped up for discussion while the board was examining the representation of the Association of Spine Surgeons of India. The board while deliberating on the eligibility of which specialties can perform spine surgeon decided that the orthopedic surgeon and neuro surgeon were eligible for spine surgeon in addition to the spine surgeons. With this clarification from NMC the issue has been clarified.
