Part of Type 1 Diabetes Initiative
Mumbai: P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre, in association with the Hinduja Foundation, has donated insulin pumps to 20 underprivileged children as part of its Type 1 Diabetes Initiative (T1DI) under the Insulin Pump Therapy Initiation Program.
The initiative aims to improve diabetes care for children living with Type 1 diabetes by offering advanced treatment tools and long-term support.
Five-Year Support for Pump Maintenance
The hospital has committed to fully support the management and maintenance of the insulin pumps for a period of five years, ensuring continuity of care for the beneficiaries.
Free Diabetes Care for 400 Children
Beyond the pump donations, the hospital provides free, comprehensive medical care for nearly 400 children with Type 1 diabetes. This includes insulin therapy, regular glucose monitoring, lab tests, consultations, and patient education on lifestyle management.
Addressing a Lifelong Condition
Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong autoimmune condition that requires multiple insulin injections, frequent blood glucose checks, and strict dietary control. Advanced therapies like insulin pumps can significantly improve blood sugar management and quality of life.

Gautam Khanna, CEO of P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC, said,
