MOS Health: NExT for AYUSH to be effective from 2021-22 batch

New Delhi: Shri Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Ayush (Independent Charge), announced that the National Exit Test (NExT) for Ayush students will be implemented from the 2021-2022 batch onwards. The NExT will apply to students enrolled under the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) and the National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) Acts, 2020, ensuring clarity in its implementation. The decision aims to provide a standardized exit examination for licensing and registration in State or National Registers. Shri Jadhav emphasized that the NExT would ensure transparency and maintain high educational and healthcare standards in the Ayush field.

The Minister introduced a nationwide campaign, Desh Ka Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan, led by the Ministry of Ayush and the NCISM, promoting natural health practices. The campaign will involve over 4.5 lakh participants, including students, teachers, and practitioners, and aims to set five Guinness World Records. It aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of integrating Ayurveda into everyday life, encapsulated in the slogan “Jan-Jan Tak Ayurveda” and “Har-Ghar Ayurveda.”

The committee, chaired by Prof. Sanjeev Sharma, Vice Chancellor of the National Institute of Ayurveda, Jaipur, considered student feedback and recommended that the NExT be introduced for the 2021-2022 batch. The test will evaluate practical skills through clinical case scenarios, images, and videos, making it mandatory for students to pass before enrolling in the registration boards after a one-year internship.
