Mayiladuthurai, Jan 10: A 57-year-old health inspector from the Mayiladuthurai District Headquarters Government Hospital has been arrested for allegedly sexually harassing a 17-year-old nursing student from a private college undergoing training at the facility.
The incident occurred on December 21 when the accused, Senthilnathan, engaged in inappropriate behavior toward the student despite her objections. Distressed, the student reported the harassment to the Mayiladuthurai District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) via the child helpline number.
Following an investigation, the CWC confirmed the allegations, and member Arokiyaraj filed a formal complaint with the All Women Police Station. Senthilnathan has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and taken into custody.
Authorities are continuing their investigation, and the case highlights the importance of protecting vulnerable individuals in healthcare and training environments.
