Siwan, Bihar: A man with a criminal record opened fire at a hospital in Siwan district, injuring a patient while attempting to escape from security personnel.
The shooter, identified as Arbaaz Alam, allegedly entered the women’s washroom of the hospital, prompting a security guard to intervene. Alam, who was openly carrying a handgun, resisted the guard’s attempt to stop him and was struck with a baton.
As he fled the hospital premises, Alam fired multiple shots, missing the guard but hitting a patient, Alok Tiwari, a local resident who is now receiving treatment.
The incident occurred around the same time that a criminal, Saddam Hussain, surrendered in court and was brought to the hospital for a medical checkup. Police suspect Alam may have intended to target Hussain.
Hospital security, assisted by other guards, eventually overpowered Alam and handed him over to the police. Authorities recovered two bullets and a motorcycle from his possession and confirmed that he was under the influence at the time of the attack.
An investigation is underway.
