Positive Talks on Pending Issues
Amid rising calls from medical professionals for better working conditions in Maharashtra’s healthcare sector, Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif met with representatives of the Federation of All India Medical Associations (FAIMA) at Mantralaya, Mumbai. FAIMA National President Dr Akshay Dongardive said discussions focused on long-standing concerns of resident doctors across the state, including those serving under the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM). The minister instructed officials to arrange a follow-up meeting at the earliest to address these issues.
Key Participants in the Meeting

Senior Residents Push for Pay and Leave Reforms
Senior resident doctors in Maharashtra have been pressing the government to regularise stipend payments, remove pay disparities between BMC and DMER institutes, and frame official leave guidelines. The Maharashtra Senior Resident Doctor Association (MSRDA), representing over 5,000 doctors, has warned of a state-wide agitation if these demands are ignored. In a letter to the DMER Director, MSRDA expressed frustration over what they described as ongoing neglect by authorities toward senior residents, who they called the backbone of the state’s public healthcare and medical education system.
