Mumbai: Maharashtra Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Tuesday instructed all relevant departments to coordinate and fast-track approvals for the proposed government medical college and hospital in Nashik. During a review meeting at Mantralaya, Bhujbal emphasized that the forest reservation on the land should be cancelled promptly and urged the Health Education Department and MUHS to take necessary action, according to PTI.
The meeting was also attended by Forest Minister Ganesh Naik and senior officials. Bhujbal noted that the government had already approved the medical college and attached hospital near the MUHS campus and had allotted additional land for the project. Citing a Supreme Court directive, he stated that the forest department is authorised to regularise such cases.
Forest Minister Naik assured that the project serves the public interest and that the forest department would act immediately once the proposal for cancelling the forest reservation is received.
Earlier, Medical Dialogues reported that the Maharashtra government sanctioned around Rs 143.85 crore for procurement of materials and equipment to set up new modular facilities at the District Hospital in Parbhani and its subordinate institutions for the 2025-26 financial year. The funds will specifically equip modular ICUs, labour rooms, and operation theatres to enhance medical care and emergency treatment in Parbhani and surrounding areas. The allocation followed standard administrative procedures, including clearances via the Budget Expenditure and Management System (BEAMS).
