UP Government Seals Illegal Hospital, Orders Suspension of Accused Doctor’s Medical License

In a shocking incident from Lucknow, a BAMS (Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery) doctor has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female patient inside the Operation Theatre (OT) of a private hospital in the Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT) area after reportedly administering her a sedative injection, officials said.

The incident triggered swift action from the Uttar Pradesh government, with Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak ordering the immediate sealing of the hospital and suspension of the accused doctor’s medical license.

Patient Allegedly Assaulted During Treatment at Private Hospital

According to officials, the victim, a 12th-grade student, had been admitted to Tejas Hospital on May 18 after suffering from epileptic seizures and fever for several days.

Her father alleged that on May 21 at around 3 pm, the girl developed breathing complications during treatment. During this time, the accused doctor allegedly called the patient alone into the operation theatre and instructed the female hospital staff and the victim’s father to remain outside.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Twinkle Jain stated that the victim later alleged the doctor administered an intoxicating injection before sexually assaulting her inside the OT.

Based on the complaint, police registered a case under relevant legal provisions and immediately arrested the accused doctor.

Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak Orders Strict Action

Reacting strongly to the incident, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak termed the case “deeply horrifying and condemnable” and said such acts tarnish the reputation of the medical fraternity.

“The incident reported at the BKT hospital is deeply horrifying and condemnable. It tarnishes the entire medical fraternity. The moment the matter was brought to our attention, we directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to seal Tejas Hospital with immediate effect,” Pathak said while speaking to reporters.

He further confirmed that the accused doctor’s medical license has been suspended and the legal process to revoke his Ayurvedic medical degree has already been initiated.

Hospital Found Operating Without Valid License Renewal

During the preliminary investigation, the state health department reportedly found that Tejas Hospital was allegedly operating illegally without a valid renewal of its license.

Following these findings, authorities sealed the hospital premises and initiated action against the hospital management under medical regulatory laws.

Officials stated that comprehensive legal proceedings under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and healthcare regulations would be pursued against all responsible individuals connected to the facility.

UP Government Assures Support to Survivor

Deputy CM Pathak also assured complete support to the survivor and her family, stating that the state government remains committed to ensuring strict punishment in crimes involving women’s safety and dignity.

“The survivor and her family are enduring profound trauma. The Uttar Pradesh government stands fully supportive of them. Anyone who compromises the dignity and safety of our daughters will face the harshest legal consequences,” he said.

Police Investigation Underway

Police officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is ongoing, including forensic examination, recording witness statements, and verification of the hospital’s operational documents.

Authorities are also examining whether there were previous complaints or irregularities linked to the hospital and the accused doctor.
