Kozhikode: A 20-year-old second-year nursing student from Government Medical College, Kozhikode, was found dead in her hostel room on Tuesday afternoon in what is suspected to be a suicide. The student allegedly hung herself from the ceiling fan in her private room.
According to the police investigation, the cause of death was determined to be suicide, and a note left by the student at the scene stated that no one was responsible for her death. The note mentioned personal issues as a possible cause, leading to the tragic decision.
However, the deceased’s family has expressed doubt over the suicide theory, claiming that she had no apparent reason to take such a drastic step. They described her death as suspicious and have demanded a thorough investigation. The family has stated that despite inquiries, they could not find any underlying issues that would explain her actions.
The incident was discovered by her roommate around noon on Tuesday, who then alerted the police. The body was sent for a postmortem examination on Wednesday. The family plans to lodge a formal complaint with the city police commissioner for further investigation.
A case has been registered, and the investigation is ongoing.
