Bengaluru: In a move to improve transparency and accountability in public healthcare, the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department has launched a dedicated WhatsApp helpline (+91-9449843001) for citizens to submit complaints or suggestions regarding services in government hospitals.
Through this channel, patients, attendants, and the general public can report issues such as:
- Poor hospital infrastructure
- Unprofessional staff behaviour
- Service delays
- Other healthcare grievances
Photos, videos, and text messages can be submitted as evidence. However, the department clarified that voice and video calls will not be entertained on this number—only WhatsApp messages will be accepted and reviewed.
The department has promised confidentiality for all complainants and emphasized that the helpline will be monitored directly by the Principal Secretary of the Health Department, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
Citizens are also encouraged to use the platform to provide constructive suggestions for improving healthcare delivery across the state.
The initiative marks a significant step in fostering citizen participation and oversight in Karnataka’s public health system.
