Bijnor – In a shocking turn of events, a 40-year-old kanwariya (Shiva devotee) named Rampal died allegedly after receiving a wrong injection from a doctor at a hospital in Roshanpur village, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday morning. The incident triggered anger among fellow pilgrims, who blocked the national highway and created a commotion.
According to a PTI report, the incident occurred around 7:30 am, when Rampal, part of a pilgrimage group from Rani Ganj in Bareilly, complained of feeling unwell. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was allegedly given an injection by the attending doctor. However, his condition rapidly deteriorated, and he died shortly afterward, confirmed Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vinay Singh.
As per ABPLive, Rampal’s brother Satpal alleged that his death resulted from medical negligence, claiming the doctor administered an incorrect injection that led to an immediate fatal reaction.
The news of Rampal’s death enraged the group of kanwariyas, who staged a protest, blocked the national highway, and demanded action against the doctor. Police reached the spot and managed to pacify the crowd after some time.
Following Satpal’s formal complaint, the police registered an FIR against the doctor, and Rampal’s body was sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
ASP Singh confirmed that the group of kanwariyas, after police intervention, has resumed their yatra towards Haridwar to collect holy Ganga water.
This incident follows a recent case reported by PTI, where a 13-year-old girl allegedly died after receiving multiple injections at MJN Medical College in Cooch Behar, sparking another complaint of medical negligence.
