Modern Super-Speciality Hospital to Boost Access to Advanced Medical Care in Meghalaya
Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Thursday reiterated the Central Government’s commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the Northeast and ensuring that advanced medical services reach people living in remote and underserved regions.
Speaking at the inauguration of ARHI Hospital in Meghalaya’s Ri-Bhoi district, Nadda said the newly established healthcare facility would play a vital role in improving health outcomes and expanding access to quality medical services in the state.
ARHI Hospital a Major Step Towards Healthcare Development
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Nadda described the establishment of a modern super-speciality hospital in a hilly state like Meghalaya as a visionary achievement and a significant milestone in strengthening healthcare delivery in the region.
“It is a matter of great happiness for me to be part of the inauguration ceremony of ARHI Hospital. I thank MLA Alexander Hek for inviting me and extend my heartfelt congratulations to everyone associated with this remarkable initiative,” Nadda said in a social media post.
The Union Minister emphasized that the hospital is more than just a healthcare institution and would serve as a beacon of hope for residents seeking quality treatment closer to their homes.
Reducing Dependence on Out-of-State Medical Treatment
Nadda highlighted that institutions like ARHI Hospital are crucial for improving access to specialised healthcare services and reducing the need for patients to travel outside Meghalaya for advanced treatment.
“Such institutions play a crucial role in improving access to specialised healthcare services and reducing the need for patients to travel outside the state for treatment,” he said.
The minister noted that strengthening healthcare infrastructure within the state would help ensure timely treatment, better patient outcomes, and enhanced healthcare accessibility for local communities.
Hospital Expected to Create Jobs and Promote Medical Excellence
Praising the efforts of all stakeholders involved in establishing the facility, Nadda expressed confidence that the hospital would significantly contribute to Meghalaya’s healthcare ecosystem.
According to the minister, the institution is expected to provide quality medical care, generate employment opportunities, support medical excellence, and strengthen the overall healthcare framework in the state.
Centre Expanding Medical Education Capacity
The inauguration comes amid the Centre’s broader push to strengthen India’s healthcare and medical education sectors. Earlier, during the second convocation ceremony of AIIMS Bathinda, Nadda stated that the Government is committed to adding 75,000 undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats over the next five years.
He noted that nearly 23,000 new medical seats have already been established during the last two years, reflecting the government’s continued focus on expanding healthcare capacity and addressing the growing demand for medical professionals across the country.
