Thirteen Men Attack Doctor with Knives, Bottles, and Brick; One Arrested, Police Investigation Underway
Jhansi: In a shocking incident at Sanjeevani Hospital, Jhansi, a doctor was brutally assaulted in his chamber by a mob of over a dozen masked assailants following a dispute over the treatment of a patient. A viral video of the attack shows the attackers armed with knives, glass bottles, and a brick, viciously attacking the doctor in broad daylight.
According to police reports, the group of 13 men stormed into the doctor’s chamber and launched the assault. The disturbing footage reveals one assailant slapping the doctor 11 times in just six seconds. The doctor sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the same hospital.
When hospital staff attempted to intervene, the violence intensified. One staff member who tried to shield the doctor was injured, and several others were also beaten. The hospital premises were left vandalized in the aftermath.
Initial police investigations indicate that the attack was triggered by a dispute over the treatment of the main accused’s mother, who had been admitted to the hospital on September 6 with a fever. Hospital staff reported multiple confrontations and verbal threats from the accused in the days leading up to the assault. Hours before the violent attack, police were called to the hospital due to a disagreement over the patient’s discharge.
One assailant was caught by local residents while attempting to flee and has been arrested by Jhansi police. A formal complaint has been registered against Singh and five other named suspects—Hrithik, Deepak, Mayank, Jayant—along with eight unknown individuals. Singh has been charged with attempted murder, and further arrests are expected as the investigation proceeds, according to the Lokmat Times.
