Police Book Paediatrician After Six-Month-Old Allegedly Given Expired Injection
Hyderabad: A case of alleged medical negligence has been registered against a paediatrician after the death of a six-month-old infant at a private hospital in Bandlaguda Jagir, under the Rajendranagar police limits. The incident has raised serious concerns about patient safety and hospital protocols in the area.
According to reports, the infant was brought by his parents to Crayons Hospital, located in Sun City, after he developed a mild fever that persisted for two days. Shortly after receiving treatment at the facility, the child’s condition reportedly worsened, and he later died at the hospital.
Following a complaint lodged by the deceased infant’s father, the police registered a case against the hospital owner and the person in charge. Authorities initiated a preliminary investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the tragic outcome.
During the initial probe, it was found that the injection administered to the infant had allegedly expired on January 19, 2026. This revelation has intensified allegations of negligence and prompted further scrutiny of the hospital’s medical practices and inventory management.
The incident triggered public outrage in the locality, with residents demanding strict accountability from the hospital management. Family members claimed that the infant was stable prior to treatment and alleged that his health deteriorated only after the medication was administered. They have called for a transparent and thorough inquiry into the matter.
Rajendranagar Inspector M. Muthu Yadav stated that the police have met with the district medical officer as part of the ongoing investigation. He confirmed that preliminary details are being verified and that further inquiries are underway to determine responsibility.
The case has once again brought attention to incidents of alleged medical negligence in private healthcare facilities. Concerns over expired medicines, quality control, and adherence to safety protocols have become central to the investigation.
In a similar incident reported earlier, a private hospital in Nagapattinam faced allegations of negligence following the death of a 16-year-old student during treatment for severe abdominal pain. Based on a complaint filed by the teenager’s father, police registered a case and launched an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death.
