In a significant step toward strengthening healthcare support for armed forces personnel, the Indian Army has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bhagwan Mahaveer Cancer Hospital and Research Centre to provide specialised medical services to veterans, war widows, and their families.
MoU Signed Under Sapta Shakti Command Leadership
The agreement was formalised in the presence of Manjinder Singh, Army Commander of the Sapta Shakti Command. Officials described the collaboration as a major move to enhance cooperation between the armed forces and civilian healthcare institutions.
Specialised Healthcare Services for Veteran Community
Under the MoU, BMCHRC will extend advanced and specialised medical care to ex-servicemen and their dependents. The initiative aims to ensure improved access to quality treatment for those who have served the nation, reinforcing long-term welfare measures for the veteran community.
Support for Special Children Through ASHA School
As part of the initiative, medical equipment worth ₹15 lakh has been donated to ASHA School. The contribution is expected to enhance rehabilitation services and healthcare support for children with special needs.
Strengthening Welfare and Healthcare Commitment
Officials highlighted that the partnership reflects a continued commitment to comprehensive healthcare and welfare for veterans and their families, bridging gaps between military and civilian medical ecosystems.
Indian Army Leading Medical Innovation in Ophthalmology
In a separate milestone, the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) has achieved a breakthrough in eye care by successfully performing India’s first 3D Flex Aqueous Angiography with iStent.
This cutting-edge procedure addresses Glaucoma, a leading cause of irreversible blindness, by enabling real-time visualisation of aqueous outflow pathways. The innovation allows surgeons to deliver highly precise and targeted treatment, significantly improving patient outcomes.
Armed Forces Medical Services at Global Forefront
With such advancements and collaborations, the Armed Forces Medical Services continue to position themselves at the forefront of global healthcare innovation, combining cutting-edge technology with patient-centric care for both serving and retired personnel.
