Health authorities take action after complaints of unauthorized operations and false claims of treating critical illnesses
In a major crackdown, the health department in Jhalawar has sealed a private hospital operating illegally in Choumahla town after complaints that it was being run using the name of a doctor without his permission. The action was taken on the instructions of Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) Sajid Khan.
Hospital Allegedly Operating Without Authorization
According to officials, the hospital located on Kundla Road in Choumahla was functioning without proper authorization and was falsely using the name of a doctor to promote and operate the facility. Authorities said the hospital had no legal approval to run medical services.
The issue came to light when a doctor filed a complaint stating that the hospital was being operated under his name without his consent. The doctor informed the health department that he had no association with the hospital despite his name being used for its promotion and operations.
Health Department Team Conducts Inspection
Following the complaint, CMHO Sajid Khan ordered an immediate investigation. A team led by Block Medical Officer Rajkumar Baghela reached the hospital along with administrative officials to conduct an inspection.
However, when the inspection team arrived at the facility, the hospital operator and several staff members reportedly fled the premises. Only a nursing staff member was present at the time of the inspection.
Medical Equipment and Records Seized
During the inspection, officials discovered several medical instruments, medicines, and an OPD register inside the hospital. All items were seized as part of the investigation.
Authorities subsequently sealed the hospital premises to prevent any further unauthorized medical operations.
Concerns Over Claims of Treating Critical Illnesses
Health officials expressed serious concern after finding that the hospital was allegedly claiming to treat critical illnesses such as cancer, brain tumours, and paralysis. These claims raised questions about the authenticity and safety of the medical services being offered to patients.
The health department has prepared a detailed report on the incident and will submit it to CMHO Sajid Khan for further review.
Probe Underway to Identify Those Responsible
Authorities have launched a detailed investigation to identify the individuals responsible for illegally operating the hospital and misusing the doctor’s identity. Officials are also examining whether more people were involved in running the unauthorized facility.
