📍Faridabad:
In a deeply troubling case of medical fraud and gross negligence, an MBBS-qualified doctor, Dr. Pankaj Mohan Sharma, has been booked for impersonating a cardiologist and allegedly performing over 50 heart surgeries at the Heart Care Centre of the District Civil Hospital, Badshah Khan, between July 2024 and February 2025.

🏥 Massive Fraud Uncovered

According to police investigations, Sharma falsely posed as renowned city cardiologist Dr. Pankaj Mohan, even using his name and registration number to gain employment at the government facility. His forged credentials falsely claimed he held a DNB in Cardiology, allowing him to operate on dozens of patients.

The fraud only came to light when patients suffering post-surgery complications approached the real Dr. Pankaj Mohan, who was shocked to discover that someone had impersonated him at a government-run hospital.

👨‍⚕️ Patients at Risk, Lives Lost

During the period, multiple patients experienced serious health deterioration, and several reportedly died following the procedures conducted by Sharma. He had no formal training or qualification in cardiology, raising serious questions about the oversight mechanisms in place at the hospital.

🔍 Hospital Officials Also Booked

  4. Ajay Sharma – Haryana Centre Head
  5. Piyush Srivastava – Financial Manager
  6. Mandip – Centre Head

Notably, no arrests have been made so far.

⚠️ Hospital Complicity Alleged

According to the FIR, hospital officials were aware that Sharma was not authorised to conduct surgeries, yet still permitted him to do so, putting scores of lives at risk. The delay in filing the FIR, as explained by Faridabad Police, was due to the awaiting of documentation from the Civil Surgeon’s office.

🔴 Medical Community Alarmed

This alarming breach of medical ethics has sent shockwaves across the healthcare sector, triggering calls for stricter verification processes and criminal accountability for medical institutions enabling such frauds.
