Lucknow: Dr Vikram Singh, currently serving as the Head of the Medicine Department at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS), has been appointed the new Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of the premier super-speciality institute in Lucknow. He succeeds Dr A.K. Singh, the Head of the Neurology Department, who held the post of medical superintendent for nearly six years.
Leadership at a Critical Juncture
Dr Singh assumes the leadership role at a crucial time when the institute is undergoing significant modernisation and expansion, including the introduction of cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment technologies.
Established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh, RMLIMS is an autonomous medical teaching institution and serves as a key referral centre for patients across the eastern districts of the state. The hospital is recognised for its commitment to delivering advanced medical care to economically disadvantaged and underserved populations.
Comprehensive Super-Speciality Services
The institute is especially acclaimed for its robust oncology services, including surgical, medical, and radiation oncology, along with nuclear medicine. RMLIMS also hosts specialised clinics in refractory epilepsy, uro-oncology, dialysis, lithotripsy, and interventional cardiology, all supported by an advanced ICU infrastructure.
New CMS Amid Infrastructure Boost
Dr Singh’s appointment comes amid a series of high-level developments at the institute. Recently, RMLIMS announced the installation of a 4D CT Simulation Machine, enhancing its radiation therapy precision. Additionally, the Yogi Adityanath-led government has approved the construction of a multi-organ transplant centre — including facilities for kidney, liver, and bone marrow transplants — on the 6th and 7th floors of the main medical building at an estimated cost of Rs 18.22 crore.
Continuity and Vision
Dr Vikram Singh brings with him decades of experience in internal medicine and administration. As CMS, he is expected to steer the institute’s mission of delivering affordable, accessible, and high-quality tertiary care, while furthering its role as a leading teaching and research hub in northern India.
