Delhi Government Issues Appointment Order
New Delhi: The Delhi government has appointed Dr Munisha Agarwal, Director Professor of Anaesthesia at Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), as the new Dean of the institute. The Department of Health and Family Welfare issued the order on August 19, directing her to assume charge immediately.
Relief from Previous Responsibilities
The government order stated that Dr Agarwal has been relieved from her existing responsibilities and must take charge of her new role without waiting for formal relieving orders from her earlier posting. The order further warned that non-compliance would be viewed seriously. It also clarified that no additional remuneration would be provided for the new charge.
Senior Anaesthesiologist and Academic Leader
Dr Agarwal currently heads the Department of Anaesthesiology at MAMC and serves as Organising Chairperson of the MAMC Anaesthesia Committee. She is also President of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Delhi Branch. As Dean, she will oversee academics, research, clinical training, and faculty development at one of the country’s premier medical institutes.
Dr Agarwal’s Vision for MAMC
Speaking to Medical Dialogues after her appointment, Dr Agarwal said:
“It is a great honour to be appointed to this position. It comes with big responsibilities, and I will do my best to fulfill them. MAMC is one of the finest medical institutes in the country and the nodal centre for advanced medical training in north India. My focus will be on introducing the latest educational tools and expanding teaching and training modalities on campus.”
She added that while challenges in undergraduate to postgraduate training exist, the larger mission of serving the community must remain central. “Nothing gives greater satisfaction than being a doctor and healing patients,” she said.
Other Key Appointment
In a related development, the Delhi government has also appointed Dr Vatsala Aggarwal as the new Director General of DGHS Delhi.
