Accused Gokul Jha in police custody; victim under treatment
Dombivli : A fresh twist has emerged in the case of the brutal assault of a female receptionist at a paediatric clinic in Kalyan East, as newly surfaced CCTV footage shows that the receptionist allegedly slapped one of the accused’s relatives shortly before she was attacked.
The incident occurred on Monday evening at Dr. Aniket Palande’s Shree Balchikitsalaya Clinic in Nandivali, where Gokul Jha, 25, was captured on camera violently kicking the receptionist, dragging her by her hair, and slamming her to the ground. The graphic video quickly went viral, triggering outrage.
However, a second CCTV clip shows the chain of events that led to the assault. An argument reportedly broke out between the receptionist, Sonali Kalasar, and Jha’s relatives, which included a woman, a man, and a child. Jha initially made a threatening move toward the receptionist but was restrained by his relative. Despite being urged to leave, he attempted to re-enter the clinic but was pushed back again.
As tensions escalated, the receptionist is seen walking away from her desk, throwing papers, and then slapping Jha’s sister-in-law, all while shouting and gesturing at the group. Moments later, Jha re-entered the reception area and attacked her, kicking her in the stomach and slamming her to the ground before being pulled away by bystanders.
The receptionist, a resident of Pisavali village in Kalyan, was injured in the assault and is currently undergoing treatment.
Following the attack, Manpada Police arrested Jha on Tuesday after he allegedly attempted to evade arrest by altering his appearance. He was produced before the Kalyan District and Sessions Court on Wednesday and has been remanded to police custody for two days.
The case continues to draw strong public reaction as the investigation progresses, with authorities now examining the full context of the incident using the available video evidence.
