Police Lay Trap After Death Threats to Doctor; Mobile Phones and Car Seized

In a shocking case of attempted extortion targeting medical professionals, police in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar arrested six individuals who allegedly threatened a doctor with death and tried to extort ₹5 lakh from him. The accused were caught red-handed while collecting the money at a hospital, police officials confirmed.

Doctor Receives Repeated Death Threats

According to investigators, the six-member gang from Dhule allegedly threatened the doctor and demanded ₹5 lakh, warning him of serious consequences if he refused to pay.

The complainant told police that the accused repeatedly called him between March 5 and March 13, issuing death threats and pressuring him to transfer the money.

Police Lay Trap and Arrest Accused

Refusing to give in to the threats, the doctor approached the police and filed a formal complaint. Acting swiftly, a police team led by Assistant Inspector Manoj Shinde, under the guidance of Inspector Nirmala Pardeshi, devised a plan to trap the suspects.

The police laid a trap at the hospital where the accused arrived to collect the cash. As soon as the exchange was attempted, officers apprehended all six individuals on the spot.

During the operation, police seized six mobile phones and a car allegedly used by the accused in the extortion attempt.

Investigation Underway

The six accused have been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway to determine whether they were involved in other extortion cases targeting doctors or healthcare professionals.

Assistant Sub-Inspector Manoj Shinde is currently leading the probe into the matter.

Similar Extortion Case Reported in Nashik

In a separate incident earlier reported in Nashik, a doctor was allegedly targeted in an extortion racket involving a history-sheeter and his female associate.

A 30-year-old assistant doctor working at a private hospital had filed a complaint alleging that the accused demanded money and threatened her. Police officials stated that the main accused was already lodged in jail in connection with another criminal case. However, after the fresh extortion allegations surfaced, his alleged accomplice fled and remains absconding.

The complainant, a resident of Makhmalabad, reported that the associate of the history-sheeter lived in a building opposite her residence. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the case.
