Heated Financial Dispute Suspected Behind Double Homicide in East Bengaluru Villa
In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old dentist and her 60-year-old husband were allegedly murdered by their son at their villa in East Bengaluru on Wednesday morning. The couple sustained multiple stab injuries and were declared brought dead at a private hospital after neighbours rushed them for emergency treatment.
The deceased dentist was a practising medical professional, while her husband was a retired Navy captain. The couple resided in a villa at Vignan Nagar near the HAL township in Bengaluru. Their 33-year-old son has been taken into police custody in connection with the crime.
According to a report by The Times of India, preliminary investigations suggest that the accused is a US-returned software engineer. He allegedly attacked his parents around 8 am following a heated argument over financial issues.
Neighbours were alerted by loud commotion from the villa and immediately intervened. The critically injured couple was shifted to hospitals on Old Airport Road, where doctors declared them brought dead. A neighbour, who is also a doctor associated with the same hospital, lodged a complaint with the HAL police.
Police sources revealed that the accused had returned to Bengaluru three years ago after working in the United States. While authorities are verifying details of his overseas employment, he was reportedly working independently on projects and was keen to expand his ventures.
Investigators said the accused had been facing difficulty in arranging capital and had allegedly been pressuring his parents to provide financial support. Frequent disputes over money are believed to have strained family relations.
Due to ongoing tensions, the accused had reportedly shifted to a rented accommodation in Varthur some time ago. However, he allegedly returned to the family villa on Monday night and renewed his demand for funds, leading to a fresh argument that escalated by Wednesday morning.
Police have produced the accused before a court and are continuing further investigation. The bodies have been shifted to Bowring Hospital for postmortem examination, which will be conducted after the arrival of the couple’s daughter from the United States.
