New Delhi: Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh on Thursday announced that 100 additional hospitals will be empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) within the next 10 days, taking the total count in the capital to 165. The expanded list, expected to include prominent private hospitals such as Fortis Healthcare, will be formally launched in the first week of September.
At present, Delhi has 151 hospitals—107 private and 44 government—empanelled under AB-PMJAY, according to the National Health Authority (NHA).
“In the last couple of weeks, we have increased the list of empanelled hospitals under Ayushman in the city. We will further update the list,” the minister told Hindustan Times.
Dr. Singh also admitted that some leading hospitals were initially reluctant to join due to pending payments under the earlier Delhi Arogya Kosh (DAK) scheme. “Nearly ₹100 crore in bills were pending by the previous government, of which most have now been cleared. Around ₹20 crore remains in process. Fortis has already applied to join the Ayushman panel,” he said.
The DAK scheme, introduced by the AAP-led government, provided financial support of up to ₹5 lakh for eligible patients in Delhi-NCR government hospitals. With Delhi’s formal adoption of AB-PMJAY in April 2025, beneficiaries now enjoy enhanced coverage of up to ₹10 lakh annually—₹5 lakh from the Centre and another ₹5 lakh top-up from the Delhi government.
This rollout followed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the Delhi government and the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare—one on April 5 for AB-PMJAY implementation and another on April 10 for the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM).
Delhi became the 35th state/UT to implement AB-PMJAY, which offers cashless treatment for 1,961 medical procedures across 27 specialities, including surgeries, diagnostics, ICU care, hospitalisation, and medicines.
According to officials, since the launch, a total of ₹13,337 crore has been disbursed for Ayushman card users in Delhi, with ₹3.75 crore contributed by the Delhi government.
