Unveils HIMS, 34 Ayushman Mandirs, and 8 Jan Aushadhi Kendras to boost affordable healthcare access
New Delhi: In a major step towards building an accessible and tech-driven healthcare system in the capital, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday launched the NextGen Health Information Management System (HIMS). The new digital platform will allow patients to book OPD appointments online, receive digital OPD slips, and access real-time health records, thereby eliminating long queues and streamlining hospital services.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated 34 Ayushman Mandirs and eight new Jan Aushadhi Kendras as part of the government’s ongoing healthcare infrastructure overhaul.
According to officials, the HIMS is powered by the NextGen e-Hospital software and is integrated with Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) IDs, enabling secure and centralized health data management. Over 93 lakh ABHA IDs have already been generated in Delhi, Gupta said.
“Healthcare Goes Digital”: CM Gupta
Calling it a “crucial step toward transparent and efficient public healthcare”, Gupta emphasized that the digital system would transform the patient experience. “It’s a huge relief for Delhiites. No more waiting in queues or running from pillar to post. Everything is now digital,” she said, as quoted by PTI.
Taking a sharp dig at the previous AAP-led government, Gupta alleged that despite spending thousands of crores in the name of healthcare, no major project reached completion. “Even during Covid, not a single hospital was made operational. They left only iron porta cabins and foundation pillars—no doctors, no medicines, and zero accountability,” she said.
She added that Delhi would soon emerge as a hub for super-specialty hospitals and modern medical facilities, drawing patients from across India.
HIMS Now Active in 35 Hospitals
Officials said the NextGen HIMS is currently operational in 35 Delhi government hospitals for OPD registrations and will soon be rolled out across all public healthcare institutions in phases.
Primary Health Push: 34 Ayushman Mandirs and Jan Aushadhi Kendras
The newly launched Ayushman Mandirs—located in areas like Shilampur, Kalkaji, Burari, Yamuna Vihar, Gandhi Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Shakur Basti, and Paschim Vihar—will offer vaccinations, maternal and child care, wellness counselling, and yoga sessions as part of comprehensive primary healthcare services.
Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh stated that 68 Ayushman Mandirs have been established within just one month, underscoring the government’s commitment to quick and tangible healthcare reform.
Singh also inaugurated eight Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which will provide essential medicines at subsidised rates, benefiting the economically disadvantaged. “This is not a government of advertisements. This is a government that delivers,” he said, adding that 17 such centres had been launched earlier this year, with more on the way.
