
Physiotherapist killed in Kerakat, residents demand strict action against banned kite string
Kerakat: In a tragic incident that has once again exposed the dangers of banned Chinese manjha, a physiotherapist lost his life on Wednesday after his neck came into contact with the sharp kite-flying thread while riding his motorcycle in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh.
Incident in Line Bazaar Area
According to reports, the victim, a resident of Sheikhzada Mohalla near Pachhatiya in Line Bazaar, Kerakat, was on his way to the district hospital to attend to a patient when the accident occurred. While riding his bike, the sharp Chinese manjha got entangled around his neck, causing grievous injuries.
Declared Dead at Hospital
Despite wearing a helmet, the physiotherapist suffered a deep neck injury. On receiving information, his father and brother rushed him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival, leaving the family devastated.
Doctors Flag Serious Safety Risk
Reacting to the incident, a doctor posted on X stating that the victim’s neck was slit by Chinese manjha while he was riding in the Line Bazaar area. The post highlighted the severe threat posed by illegal kite strings to two-wheeler riders and pedestrians.
Allegations of Administrative Failure
Local residents alleged that the police and district administration have failed to effectively curb the sale and use of banned Chinese manjha. They claimed that despite repeated incidents, enforcement on the ground remains weak.
Earlier Similar Incident
Residents pointed out that just a few weeks ago, a teacher lost his life in a similar manner while returning home after dropping his daughter at school, indicating that such incidents are becoming alarmingly frequent in the district.
Public Anger and Fear
The physiotherapist’s death has sent shockwaves through the area, with people expressing anger, fear and frustration. Locals warned that unchecked use of banned manjha poses a serious threat to public safety and could claim more lives if immediate action is not taken.
Family Seeks Strict Action
Speaking to Jagran, the victim’s father said the incident is a grim warning for society. He urged the administration to take strict and immediate action against the sale of Chinese manjha, stressing that kite flying with such threads has turned into a deadly hazard.
