Relatives Create Uproar Following Patient’s Demise After Admission
New Delhi: Following the death of a patient admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital, a scene of chaos erupted as his family accused the hospital of medical negligence. The patient, who had been missing since November 4, was found intoxicated on a footpath in Shahdara and taken to GTB Hospital, where he passed away on Sunday. Police confirmed the family’s claims were under investigation, and intervention was required to restore calm after the disturbance outside the hospital.
Incident Overview and Family’s Allegations
DCP (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam explained that the patient, identified only by a tattoo of “Azeem” on his forearm, was initially admitted to GTB Hospital on November 6 after being found in an inebriated state. Despite efforts to locate his family, they were only found on November 9. Family members reported the man’s history of alcoholism and previous treatment at a rehabilitation center. Following his death, the family voiced suspicions of medical negligence, leading to a brief commotion outside the hospital.
