Authorities Probe Unapproved Hospitals in Bowenpally
Hyderabad – Authorities have launched inspections of hospitals operating without proper approvals in the Cantonment area, following a formal complaint from Cantonment Board civilian member Ramakrishna. Cantonment CEO Madhukar Naik, along with chief planner Phani Kumari, led an inspection at VR Multi-speciality Hospital in Bowenpally.
Inspection and Findings
During the inspection, the CEO and the team examined crucial documents, including:
✅ Hospital’s permission papers
✅ Building approvals
✅ Trade license
✅ Tax details
The hospital management was directed to submit all relevant paperwork at the board office by Thursday.
Patient’s Death Triggers Investigation
The inspection comes after the suspicious death of a patient admitted for stomach pain. The deceased’s family raised concerns over the circumstances of his death, leading to an official complaint. The health department and police are already investigating the case, with the Cantonment Board stepping in to examine regulatory compliance.
“If the hospital is found to be operating without valid approvals, strict action will be taken,” – CEO Madhukar Naik.
Shockwaves in the Healthcare Sector
The surprise inspection has put other hospitals in the Cantonment area on high alert, as many are suspected of running without proper licenses. Internal audits have reportedly uncovered dozens of unauthorized hospitals, and action against them is expected soon.
Board Member’s Warning
Board member Ramakrishna, who initiated the probe, emphasized that hospitals must prioritize public health and safety.
“Hospitals exist to save lives, not endanger them. If violations are found, hospitals will be given a chance to rectify them; otherwise, strict measures will follow.”
Authorities have assured that further inspections will continue, ensuring that only properly authorized medical institutions operate in the region.
