Multiple Branches Targeted
Delhi: Max Hospital branches in Shalimar Bagh, Dwarka, and Saket received bomb threats on Saturday, prompting extensive security operations by the Delhi Police. Authorities later confirmed that the threats were hoaxes.
Details of the Threats
According to a senior police officer, the Taj Palace hotel in Shalimar Bagh received a bomb threat via email on Saturday morning, while Max Hospital in Dwarka received a similar email in the afternoon. The emails mentioned the presence of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on each floor of the premises. After thorough inspections, both threats were declared false.
Police Response
Multiple police teams, including the bomb disposal squad (BDS), dog squad, and quick reaction team (QRT), were deployed. “All public areas, parking zones, lobbies, and rooms were thoroughly checked with bomb detection equipment and sniffer dogs,” the officer said.
Ongoing Investigation
Cyber teams are tracing the emails to determine their origin and identify the sender. The Taj Palace spokesperson stated that the safety of guests and employees is paramount, adding that authorities remain vigilant. Max Hospital did not provide an immediate response.
Context of Recent Threats
This comes a day after a similar bomb threat led to the evacuation of the Delhi High Court. Earlier in the week, threats were also sent via email to the Delhi Chief Minister’s Secretariat, Maulana Azad Medical College, and University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS), all of which were subsequently declared hoaxes.
