Threat Reported
New Delhi: A bomb threat targeting Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi, triggered a rapid security response on Tuesday. A separate call corroborating the threat was also received, prompting the deployment of multiple fire tenders as a precaution.
Action Taken by Authorities
Delhi Police stated that the threat email mentioned possible detonation at both MAMC and the CM Secretariat. Bomb Detection and Disposal Teams (BDDT) were immediately deployed to both locations following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Senior officers, including the additional DCP (Central), ACP Kamla Market, and SHO IP Estate, supervised anti-sabotage checks at the Secretariat, while the MAMC site was overseen by the additional traffic officer of IP Estate police station.
Security Measures
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nidhin Valsan assured the public that:
- All necessary steps were taken to ensure safety at both locations.
- Entry and exit points were secured and access restricted during verification.
- Sniffer dogs and technical teams conducted intensive scanning of the premises.
A cyber police team is investigating the origin and authenticity of the email. Preliminary findings suggest the message may have been intended for a different state, though authorities are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
