69-Year-Old Practitioner Found Dead with Gunshot Wound at Residence
In a tragic incident, a 69-year-old BAMS doctor allegedly died by suicide after shooting himself with his licensed revolver at his residence in the Civil Lines area of Sitapur on Friday afternoon.
According to media reports, the practitioner, who operated a clinic in Khairabad, had lunch around 1 pm before heading to his room on the first floor. Shortly afterward, his wife, who was downstairs at the time, heard a gunshot. Upon rushing upstairs, she found him lying face down on the bed with a gunshot wound to the temple.
Police Seize Weapon, Forensic Evidence Collected
Police officials reached the scene soon after being alerted and secured the area. The licensed revolver used in the incident has been seized, and forensic teams have collected evidence from the spot.
Authorities stated that the doctor’s wife was in deep shock and initially unable to provide a statement.
Doctor Was Quiet for Past Two Weeks, Say Sources
According to police sources, the deceased had reportedly been unusually quiet at home over the past two weeks. However, the exact reason behind the extreme step remains unclear.
Police Circle Officer Vinayak Gopal Bhosale said that, prima facie, the case appears to be a suicide. He added that further clarity will emerge after the post-mortem report is received. An investigation is currently underway.
Neighbours Recall Doctor as Cheerful and Socially Active
Neighbours expressed shock over the incident, describing the doctor as a cheerful and positive individual who rarely showed signs of stress.
“He was always smiling and never seemed worried about the future. It is hard to believe he could take such a step,” a neighbour told media outlets.
Residents also highlighted his active involvement in social causes, noting that he often extended medical and financial assistance to those in need.
