Authorities in Kashipur, Uttarakhand, have sealed an Ayurvedic clinic following serious allegations that the facility was illegally selling allopathic medicines without the required licence. The action was taken after a formal complaint triggered a joint inspection by officials from the Ayush Department and the local administration.

Inspection Conducted by Ayush Department and Administration Team

The raid was carried out at a healthcare centre located in Laxmipur Patti. The inspection team was led by District Ayurvedic Officer Dr. Alok Kumar Shukla and included Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhay Pratap Singh, Tehsildar Pankaj Chandola, and police personnel. The operation was conducted following reports published by Amar Ujala.

Complaint Alleged Misleading Ayurvedic Claims and Illegal Drug Sale

The case began after a resident of Saini Colony in the Pakkakot area filed a complaint with the District Ayurvedic Officer. The complainant alleged that the clinic was presenting itself as an Ayurvedic treatment centre while allegedly dispensing allopathic medicines without proper authorisation.

He further stated that the clinic’s signage, prescriptions, and promotional materials highlighted Ayurvedic treatment, but allopathic medicines were reportedly being distributed on the premises.

No Valid Licence Found During Inspection

During the official verification, authorities examined records and documents related to the sale and distribution of medicines at the centre. Officials confirmed that no valid licence for selling medicines was found, raising concerns over regulatory non-compliance.

Following this, Drug Inspector Nidhi Sharma was called to assist in further investigation. Samples of medicines available at the clinic were collected and sent for laboratory testing.

Clinic Sealed Pending Further Investigation

After completing the initial inspection and sample collection process, authorities sealed the healthcare facility. Officials stated that further action will depend on the laboratory results and detailed findings of the ongoing investigation.

The matter is currently under review by the concerned departments, and appropriate legal action will be taken based on the final report.
