Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav directs officials to complete hiring within a month; specialists to receive ₹1.10 lakh monthly salary

In a major move to strengthen healthcare services across Andhra Pradesh, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has approved the recruitment of 238 doctors for government hospitals. The initiative aims to address vacancies in Community Health Centres (CHCs), area hospitals, and district hospitals, thereby improving secondary healthcare services across the state.

The decision was taken following a review meeting with Secondary Health Director Chakradhar Babu. Under the recruitment plan, the state government will fill 148 Civil Assistant Surgeon (Specialist) posts and 90 Civil Assistant Surgeon (General) posts on a one-year contractual basis.

Attractive Salary Package for Doctors

According to the approved recruitment framework, specialist doctors holding postgraduate qualifications will receive a monthly salary of ₹1.10 lakh. MBBS doctors recruited as Civil Assistant Surgeons will be paid ₹61,960 per month.

The government expects the recruitment drive to help bridge critical manpower gaps in public healthcare institutions and improve access to medical services for patients across the state.

Nellore, Sri Sathya Sai and Anantapur Get Highest Allocation

Among the districts, Nellore, Sri Sathya Sai, and Anantapur have been allotted the highest number of doctor posts, with 13 appointments each.

Polavaram, Konaseema, and Eluru districts will receive 11 doctors each, while Parvathipuram Manyam, Krishna, NTR, Bapatla, and Tirupati districts have been allocated 10 doctors each.

Nine doctors each have been sanctioned for East Godavari, Prakasam, Markapuram, and Kurnool districts. Alluri Sitarama Raju, Chittoor, and Annamayya districts will receive eight doctors each, while Anakapalli, West Godavari, Palnadu, and Nandyal districts have been allotted seven doctors each.

Srikakulam, Kakinada, and Kadapa districts will receive six doctors each, Vizianagaram will get five doctors, Guntur four, and Visakhapatnam one doctor.

Recruitment Through District Selection Committees

To expedite the appointment process, the state government has decided to conduct recruitment through District Selection Committees (DSCs) under the supervision of district collectors.

Officials believe that the decentralized recruitment model will encourage doctors to serve in their native or nearby districts, improving retention rates and ensuring better healthcare delivery in underserved areas.

Minister Sets One-Month Deadline

Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has directed officials to complete the recruitment process within one month to ensure that vacant positions in government hospitals are filled without delay.

The move is expected to significantly strengthen healthcare infrastructure and enhance patient care services across Andhra Pradesh’s public health system.

Andhra Pradesh Clears Pending Hospital Dues

Earlier, the Health Minister had announced the release of ₹919.13 crore to hospitals empanelled under the NTR Vaidya Seva Trust through a tri-partite bill discounting mechanism. The decision was taken to fulfil the coalition government’s commitment to clearing pending dues and ensuring smooth functioning of healthcare institutions across the state.
