Allegations of Corruption in COVID-19 Procurement Under BJP Government

Justice D’Cunha Commission Recommends Action Against Former CM Yeddyurappa and Health Minister

Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil has raised serious allegations of corruption in COVID-19 equipment procurement by the previous BJP government, citing findings from the Justice D’Cunha Commission. Speaking alongside Dr. Ajay Singh, Chairman of the Kalyan Karnataka Regional Development Board, Patil revealed that the report suggests recovering ₹49 crore due to inflated pricing on items like PPE kits and ventilators. It further recommends legal action against former Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and the Health Minister for favoritism in awarding contracts.

Misuse of Funds During Pandemic Alleged by Congress Leaders

Patil condemned the BJP’s handling of public funds, accusing the party of exploiting the pandemic for profit, and charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with prioritizing political interests over public welfare. Dr. Ajay Singh, who is also an MLA, echoed these criticisms, questioning the BJP’s motivations during a national crisis. The D’Cunha report is now set for further review by a cabinet sub-committee, with additional actions anticipated from the government.
