New Delhi: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has started a two-week health camp, ‘Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivaar’, running from September 17 to October 2. The initiative focuses on strengthening women’s health and family well-being through free screenings, check-ups, and awareness programmes.
Chief Minister Stresses Women’s Role in Nation’s Health
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who visited the camp on Monday, said, “A healthy woman ensures a healthy family and, together, a healthy country.” She emphasised that the programme aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to expand access to free healthcare for women across India.
Wide Range of Free Health Services
The camp offers cancer screening, eye and dental check-ups, TB awareness, and consultations across multiple AIIMS departments including Internal Medicine, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Nutrition, Psychology, Pulmonology, Dermatology, Paediatrics and Haematology. Both patients and attendants, along with family members and staff, are eligible to participate.
Awareness and Wellness Activities
Alongside medical services, the programme features awareness drives on TB prevention under the Nikshay Mitra scheme, yoga sessions, and workshops on work-life balance. The aim is to combine preventive healthcare with mental and lifestyle well-being.
AIIMS Handles Major Healthcare Burden
AIIMS officials highlighted that the institute caters to nearly five lakh OPD patients annually, shouldering a significant portion of Delhi’s healthcare responsibilities. The camp is expected to further ease access to preventive and early-detection services for women.
Part of National Health Campaign
The initiative is part of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s broader campaign under the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivaar (SNSP) Abhiyaan and the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah. Prime Minister Modi launched the campaign in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, with simultaneous events in Haryana, Maharashtra, and Delhi, where Union Ministers and state leaders inaugurated multiple health camps.
