Victim Alleges Threats and Intimidation, Case Continues in Court
New Delhi: The Hauz Khas police have registered a third FIR after a 39-year-old AIIMS doctor alleged that she was being threatened to withdraw her rape case against a fellow doctor. The latest complaint comes almost two years after the initial FIR was filed in July 2023, accusing the doctor of rape, unnatural offence, causing miscarriage without consent, and criminal intimidation.
Threatening Phone Calls on the Way to Hospital
According to the victim, she received two threatening phone calls on Friday while on her way to the hospital. The caller allegedly abused her, warned her to withdraw the case, and threatened to shoot her dead, claiming to know her whereabouts and schedule. Terrified, she immediately dialed 112 and alerted the police.
Third FIR in Connection to the Case
This is the third FIR in relation to the matter. In December 2024, the victim had previously filed a complaint, stating that the accused and his associates had threatened her and her family, even reaching her Ghaziabad residence.
Legal Proceedings and Allegations of Police Inaction
The rape case is currently in court, with framing of charges scheduled for April 16. However, the victim has alleged police inaction, accusing law enforcement of shielding the accused despite repeated complaints.
This case underscores the critical issue of victim intimidation in sexual assault cases and raises concerns about survivor protection and police accountability in ensuring justice.
