
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday virtually laid the foundation stone for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute in Rohini, Delhi, highlighting India’s potential to become the global health and wellness hub. He expressed optimism that the world will soon embrace the mantra of ‘Heal in India’, alongside the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Highlights of the New Facility
The upcoming facility, spread over 2.92 acres with an investment of ₹187 crore, will house a 100-bed hospital dedicated to advancing Ayurveda research and offering healthcare services, as per an official statement. The event was attended by Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Prataprao Jadhav and other dignitaries.
Promoting Traditional Indian Medicine
In his address, the prime minister emphasised the Centre’s efforts to make healthcare more accessible, particularly for the underprivileged, by promoting traditional Indian medicine systems like AYUSH and Ayurveda.
- Over the past decade, the AYUSH system has expanded to over 100 countries.
- The first World Health Organization (WHO) institution for traditional medicine is being established in India.
- The special AYUSH visa facility introduced for foreign nationals seeking treatment in India has already benefited hundreds.
PM’s Vision for a Healthier India
Referring to the recent inauguration of the second phase of the All India Institute of Ayurveda, Modi said that the new research institute marks “Ayurveda’s next big leap” and congratulated the people of Delhi for this milestone.
“This facility will not only advance research but also provide high-quality healthcare services, ensuring a lasting impact on millions across the country,” said Union Minister Prataprao Jadhav, expressing gratitude for the prime minister’s leadership.
PM Modi reiterated his vision of positioning India as the health and wellness capital of the world, combining innovation with traditional knowledge to provide holistic healthcare solutions.
