New Delhi: The Delhi Police’s Saket police station has apprehended a man accused of stealing high-value medical equipment from hospitals while posing as a medical equipment representative. Identified as Yogesh Kumar, the suspect was caught by the police and has admitted to stealing items worth about four to five lakhs, according to law enforcement officials.
Authorities revealed that Yogesh had been selling the stolen equipment online at discounted rates. The police recovered an indirect ophthalmoscope and a scan pachymeter from his possession. A case was initiated on August 19 after Max Hospital, Saket, lodged a complaint about the theft of an indirect ophthalmoscope from their ophthalmology department. Using CCTV footage and other technical sources, the police identified and captured the suspect. Yogesh, 55, a resident of Shahibabad in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, was employed by a company that supplies medical equipment to hospitals. He reportedly stole equipment from Max Hospital and Yashoda Hospital in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh.
