New Delhi: The Indian Medical Association led protest will continue till the doctors demand for Central Protection Act (CPA) is not accepted by the Union Government. The protest will continue even though the Supreme Court has constituted a National Task Force which will work on guidelines that will ensure the safety of medical professionals. The Indian Medical Association President Dr. R.V. Asokan said that they welcome the Supreme Court order as it has come as a “great relief,” but their protest for CPA will persist till Union Government does not accept their demand of CPA. “Two of our demands—security for medical professionals and ensuring safe and dignified conditions for residents—have been addressed by the SC. However, we are demanding a policy issue that the central government must respond to. We will not give up on our demand at the national level and will continue to protest until CPA is implemented,” Dr. Asokan said.
