NIMS Anaesthesia Professor commits suicide by injecting self with anaesthesia

Hyderabad: At the state-run Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), a female Anaesthesia Professor allegedly committed suicide at her house in Hyderabad. The deceased was a 46-year-old doctor was working at NIMS and also a professor in the Anaesthesia department of the hospital. Meanwhile the police suspects that the deceased professor had administered anaesthesia injection to herself and committed suicide.

After attending duty at the hospital she went to the flat, but as she was not responding to phone calls of her husband, who is also a doctor her husband rushed to the house and found the door locked from inside. He broke open the door with help from neighbours and found his wife in an unconscious state, informed a police official at Begumpet police station. She was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead, the official added. The reason for her resorting to the extreme step is under investigation, the official said. A case was registered and the enquiry is in progress.
