The altercation happened at the trauma center of AIIMS Rishikesh, which was being prepared to treat victims of the Rudraprayag accident who were airlifted to the institute. The disagreement between the resident doctor and the nurse, whose reasons remain unknown, escalated quickly. Other nursing staff present managed to calm the situation, but not before someone recorded the incident and shared it on social media.
In the aftermath of the video’s release, the Nursing Professional Development Association (NPDA) has come out in strong support of the nurse. They have warned that a strike will begin if no action is taken against the doctor. The NPDA held a silent protest outside the medical superintendent’s office and submitted a memorandum to the acting director of the institute, signed by NPDA President Sanjeev Kumar Jangid and General Secretary Dinesh Luhar.
